Shockingly, 32 children every day drown in Vietnam. Sadly, drowning is one of the leading causes of death in children over the age of one in Vietnam. This silent epidemic has been the result of children just not been given the opportunity to learn basic water safety techniques. Fortunately, these deaths can be prevented and Global Care is currently looking into ways to help provide children with the opportunity to learn to swim. This month, Peter Pilt, Paul and Deborah Hilton and their team visited a number of schools to look at the swimming pools ACCI World Relief have installed in Da Nang. These swimming pools are a significant resource that provide children in the safety of their schools to have swimming lessons. Global Care is looking at getting involved in this program- Mates Helping Mates Swim! Together, Global Care and the children of Vietnam are in for a splashin’ good time!
