Nearly 18 months of the planning and praying, finally the new Global Care Low Cost Grocery warehouse will open in Bundaberg!

In late 2014, we had a vision of moving the Thursday 9-11 am low cost groceries to a 5 full day model, but this posed a challenge, as currently to facilitate the low cost groceries, we basically pulled Church apart, half became the shop and the other, a place where people could sit, relax, enjoy a cuppa, sandwich and cake, plus connect with others.

To be able to achieve this, we need to build another building. With quotes for just the shed coming around the $35K, we were a long way off funding the vision, so we set about applying for grants. Finally after two submission rounds, we were successful!

Of course, a blow out in costs, have now taken the project to almost $50K, have also put a few spanners in the works, but all the way, we knew God had this.

Still a little short on shelving, fridges and freezers, but we open this week as a soft opening. Our local radio station 4BU with Wide Bay Today’s, Billy Healy have been a wonderful blessing with the support getting behind the project (and Global Care in general), certainly a relationship that is important to the continued success of Global Care in the community.

Once everything is ready, we’ll hit the local media and pollies with invitations for the grand opening!
